Nobody is Safe

If you ever track the news coming out of Iraq, you would probably get a clear Idea of what’s going around, and to narrow things up you would certainly reach to a conclusion that nobody living inside the borders of this country is safe.
Yesterday “they” even killed the vice presidents brother, a General in the Old army, his house was protected and he had a fair number of security guards.
Every day you hear in the News that between twenty to sixty bodies are found of people tortured and killed execution style.

I have seen things that if I post here even though I post anonymously could get me in trouble.

I have seen convoys of death squads setting up Mortar pipe in the middle of the road not 200 meters from Iraqi Army Tanks and checkpoints! Firing round on other neighborhoods for Hours!! Without any intervention by, neither the Iraqi Army, the corrupt police, nor the U.S. forces.

Just to clarify things up, I respect the Police, the Iraqi Army and the MoI Commando’s but there are units in these organizations that are corrupt to the bone and need dissecting quickly or this Nation would never rise to its feet again.

My children are playing a new game.

I discreetly hear them talking about inspecting their Dolls trolley for explosive’s before putting the doll in it.

When my firstborn arrived to life I wished God that she would never hear the sound of a rifle.

I now Wish God keeps us Safe, Healthy and Alive.

P.S. the Security Operation “Forward Together” going around Baghdad is a Joke.

Goodness me, poor Iraqi kids! Ever since my nephew was born I tried my utmost to keep him off toy guns, but I couldn't he used to see ING and US soildiers day in day out, and he just wanted to copy them.
Though I miss him so bad I do not want him back.

Hello Zappy, I have just recently found your blog - how you can all remain sane in the shadow of such physical and psychological fear is hugely admirable . . . I like your way of describing what is going on in Iraq and have linked you, hope this is okay. with warmest wishes NMJ

Ok ... so we are to conclude that
the majority of the killings for say the last 4 months have been
Shia death squads with ties to the government targeting innocent
Sunni ... is this correct ???

Now considering that the Shia
civilians / Iraqi police/iraqi police recruits/
/Iraqi army/Iraqi army recruits

endured at least 6 months
of horrific attacks with very
little retaliation ...can we conclude that these "Death Squad killings are revenge for all
the previous attacks ???

Or do you consider this now the beginning of a plan for a brutal
Shia rule ...without any chance for
a settlement.

My point being Saddam used
collective punishment to rule
through fear

After downfall of Saddam his boys
still used collective punishment
on Shia civilians ... how many
car-bombs ??? how many mini-busses
attacked ???

So now the Shia are using collective punishment to kill
Sunni civilians

This is NOT GOOD but it is to be expected considering the
culture of revenge in Iraq

What is needed is strong voices on both sides to say ENOUGH ...

Who are these people and is it even possible ???

NMJ, Thank you for linking my Blog, I find that your blog is also wonderful and hopefully your Book would be published.

Anony, the Individual Iraq Citizen, Being Sunni or Shia, Kurd or Martian, has no hand in this, Just this morning a member of the "Parlament" was speaking in BBCArabic Radio he says We Cannot live in a country with a centralized government anymore, we have never been able to in the past Sunni's Shia's Kurds and Arabs can never live together, Never

I mean, who's he to generalize his phsyco racial Ideas! those are the people responsable of the killings.

and don't try to be rational or logical, there is no logic.

I Also have a Final conclusion This Country is finished!

[anon] “So now the Shia are using collective punishment to kill Sunni civilians. This is NOT GOOD but it is to be expected considering the culture of revenge in Iraq”

I just LOVE the way you managed to navigate into every American invasionist BS argument and smokescreen.

Straight off the bat, “blaming the natives” is the oldest trick in the American invasion book. When atrocities and brutality amongst the native security forces crops up, your immediate resort is to say that “these people are like this” and that you can’t do anything about it. You did it in Vietnam (Con Son Island etc) and you did it is Latin America and you’re doing it in Iraq as well.

Secondly the “shia-sunni-kurd” division was implanted directly by the US, which set up a system of sectarian-based presidencies. The previous army was disbanded and a new, Shia structure was established, because your closest allies were and are thugs like the BADR Brigade, who certainly took the opportunity to fill up the MoI with every radical they could scrape together.

Then - when you unleashed this sectarian-based Iraqi Army on the Resistance, which previously was targeting the US Army - is it any wonder that sectarian tensions are through the roof? Accompany this with the fact that the US trained and advised the organs implicated in the sectarian killings, and we have a scenario where the sectarian killings have less to do with the “Iraqi culture of revenge” and more to do with aforeign invader turning the people of a country against each other.

[anon] “What is needed is strong voices on both sides to say ENOUGH ...”

What is needed is for the US to say “enough” and to get on with the process of withdrawing its troops.

Then, only once the catalyst to the inter-Iraqi violence is removed, can there be talk of genuine reconciliation.

While the US is still in Iraq pulling strings, there is only endless false promises and dead ends.

Let that MP speak for himself, Iraqis have managed to coexist for decades, why can't they do so now?

Zappy, I linked to your site via NMJ. Tried to comment on your latest posting about your firstborn surviving a bomb attack on her way to school, but the link doesn't seem to be working. I will be thinking about you and your family here in Finland. Am horrified by the reality you are faced with, the horrors becoming everyday. I wish there was something concrete I could do.

"I discreetly hear them talking about inspecting their Dolls trolley for explosive’s before putting the doll in it."

You have a permanent place in my prayers, and in my heart.

I hope and pray for your safety and the safety of your children.
