My Oldest has been turned away from School the past two days, I have no idea of whats going on, its told that the School teachers are on Strike.
All over Baghdad? (not sure) but thier demands are simple, they want wadges as their peers in Kurdistan.

I belive they deserve it.

Who decides on wages for teachers in Iraq, Zappy? City government? Or is it by province? Just curious... it seems like if salary is determined locally, the best teachers will teach where they can make the most money!

salaries are decided by the central government, with the exception of kurdistan, everything in kurdistan is exceptional.

Hi Zappy,

I'm glad your blog looks different from what I saw yesterday :-)

I think the teachers should get a risk bonus to their salary.

Zappy, I am glad that you are back. I was reading the papers here today, there was a long horrible article about the rape & murder of an Iraqi child born in '91, by US soldiers. My older son is also born in '91, I sat and thought of your daughter. I am not religious, if I was I'd say God bless you. You are in my thoughts.

Well, that's a good system then... maybe they should be paid what teachers are paid in Kurdistan. Maybe some of the reconstruction money can be used for teacher salaries, since there doesn't seem to be much reconstruction going on anyway!

Oh god, Zappy, I followed the link you gave. I read the papers, I follow the news, but it's another thing to get the details like this, from people who are actually effected by it all in a personal way.
